After many requests from our clients, the Business and
Industry Services Division (the training and consulting division) of Harry S
Truman College, in partnership with NORBIC and the Latin American Chamber of
Commerce, has decided to launch a comprehensive open-enrollment training
program. Two years ago the Business and Industry Services Division initiated
research to discover the needs for open enrollment training programs services
in Chicago. Local small, medium, and large companies and other organizations
were consulted. With the assistance of NORBIC, a needs survey was conducted to
determine the specific training needs of the business community of Chicago.
After analyzing the results of the research conducted, we concluded that there
is a significant need for open enrollment training services in several key
areas: Professional Development/Management, Manufacturing/Production/Quality,
IT/Computer Skills, Safety/OSHA, and Languages. The research conducted allowed
us to also determine the specific training topics presently needed for the key
training areas. Therefore, hundreds of topics will be included in the
open-enrollment training program. Between 50 and 100 different topics will be
marketed on a monthly basis. The topics will change as need changes.
After many years of delivering hundreds of high quality customized training
programs, the Business and Industry Services Division will continue to use the
same training protocol for the open enrollment programs. All programs will be
delivered by subject-matter, business world experienced, experts using the
latest training methodologies and technologies. All training materials have
been expertly designed to make the training experience a true learning event;
all participants will leave with a well-designed workbook that can be later
used as a reference guide. All computer training programs will be taught with
hands-on experience; each participant will have a computer to work with.
Finally, all training programs have been designed with a post-assessment.
The latest technology will be used to inform interested parties about the
availability of training programs on a monthly basis. The program’s web page
will allow interested parties to view all the details of our training programs
including course descriptions, instruction hours, detailed training outlines,
locations, costs per participant, maps to our training locations, monthly
schedules, and more importantly online registration. The participants will be
able to register online and pay with a credit card, mail in a check, or request
that his/her company be billed for the training program. The interested parties
will also be able to speak to customer service staff.
Harry S Truman College, through this program, demonstrates its commitment to the
local community. This program will make high quality demand-based training
programs available to thousands of small, medium, and large companies and
organizations in Chicago. This program is also the result of important
partnerships with NORBIC and the Latin American Chamber of Commerce.
Together we will: “Developing the Job Skills for Today’s Economy Through Customized
Training.”
